Newager's Creed

You often heard me mentioning this notion “New Age”, some of you might be confused or lacking a clear definition of it. The term will often be associated with the idea of futurism, aliens and flying orbs, and other stuff that fall under this category.

What is the way of the New Age in regards to spiritual development?  First of all, the New Age is somewhat of a blurry concept and was often used differently in certain contexts, to get directly to the focal point of this paper, I’ll tell you all what the New Age means to me:

1. Fluidity in thought and action This New Age is all about fluidity, flexibility, openness and acceptance above all. The ”newager” isn’t the type of dude that will be pleased with only one answer, he will search, he will stretch a subject, he’ll cut it in to peaces, burn it and he might finally get a satisfying answer at the end of the day. Analytical, profound and investigative, those are the three words that define the “newager”, always being highly stimulated by the possibility of shading a light in the unknown, by making a 0,05% contribution towards the progress of his community and planet.

2. A renewed loved towards nature – Beginning with the age of industrialism, people started to distance themselves from Nature, becoming more and more frustrated with their relations with the natural environment. In the New Age there’s no such thing, humanity starting slowly to reconcile with its true origins.

3. An end to internal conflicts that fragment our soul – Not more frustrations, no more conflicts between us and ourselves, this being obtainable with acknowledging our own sense of success in life and not trying to desperately adhere to the ones set by others, as long as our own standards are not damaging towards others.

4. The acknowledgment of simplicity and functionalism at a greater scale – Detachment from behaviors, routines and methodologies that have not real contribution towards obtaining a better quality of life.

5. The eclectic nature of religious beliefs – Believes are not resumed anymore to a single faith, they are mixed, combined, eclectic …resulting from the believe that no single faith can hold the supreme answer, rather each faith gives a chunk and we must put all the peaces together to make sense out of them.

6. A greater sensitivity towards the suffering and misfortunes of the ones around us – Charity, social work, social development, community spirit…you name it, the New Age says a big NO towards ignorance and social polarization as a result of it.

7. Detachment from nationalistic, racist and xenophobic behaviorswe are all one, we are all humans.

8.  Not an American, not a Romanian…rather a Global Citizen – we are all one, we are all Global Citizens as a result of our common genetic ancestry as members of the same specie.

9.  Acknowledgement of Science as a tool of social development – Science is not only confined to school classrooms, Science becomes a integral part of our everyday life, it becomes integrated in our thinking mechanism, in our outlook towards life as a whole.

10.  The rejection of an absolute truth, the acknowledgment of a multidimensional perspective on truth – Truth cannot reside in a single place, particle, corner…truth is fragmented and scattered all across, and is our duty to find the peaces and to stick them together in order to see the big image, only so we could actually see the world in which we life in all of its spectacular details that make many times the difference.

As some of you might think…this list is not complete, I have no objection in regards to your statement. The list can be extended, some of the points that were written above can be divided in many other independent points and so on.

This idea is the following, all that was listed above was just a reminder that the New Age really stands for some clear values, those values essentially being just core humanistic values that were around since the early days, some of them were forgotten in time, now is the best moment to bring them back to life through our own will and determination to construct a better society for us and the generation that will come from now on.
